Full truckload rates only appear for shipments weighing over 10,000 lbs. The rates are all density-based and if in Europe include the loading meter and cubic density calculations so you don’t have to worry about figuring out your NMFC class or loading meters. In addition to that Exfresso calculates the linear foot and cubic capacity of your shipments and will disqualify carriers IF you are over that carriers maximum thresholds. We take the confusion and complication out of shipping so you can count on the rates generated in Exfresso being correct.

Trucking services offered in Exfresso by ExFreight between Canada and the US are door to door. They DO NOT include customs entry, the service only includes transportation related costs. IF you require a customs broker ExFreight can offer customs entry service in BOTH Canada and the US for an additional fee. The required Canadian border crossing accessorial IS NOT a customs entry fee and only covers the security filings required at the border.
Guaranteed LTL rates are rates where the carrier will refund freight charges IF the service standard is not met. There are the following terms and conditions that must be followed. Please review them carefully. In cases where the shipment was not delivered as per the guaranteed delivery day, the carrier will offer a refund on the charges A claim must be submitted for service failure within 15 days of the delivery day or the refund will not be honored The proper information identifying the shipment as a guaranteed service shipment MUST be placed on the BOL along with the quote number. ExFreight’s Bill of lading will have all the information required. Guaranteed service does not guarantee the pick-up. If the carrier cannot make the pickup they will not honor the guarantee. The delivery address must be open and available for the delivery up to the guaranteed time on the delivery day. IF driver attempts delivery AND consignee is not available or there they will redeliver another day and NOT honor a service failure claim. Guaranteed service is not available for shipments requiring any additional accessorial. Guaranteed service is not applicable for any shipments with a single piece over 8ft in length Guaranteed service is not available on any volume/spot rated shipments. Guaranteed service is not available for any limited access/residential/ocean cfs/convention center/ grocery warehouse/ amazon FBA warehouse or any other delivery address that requires an additional charge in our accessorial fields. Guaranteed service is not available for Hazmat shipments Any shipments scheduled for pick up or delivery or transiting during any of the following holidays will automatically add an extra day of service to the guaranteed delivery day. Examples of observed holidays: New Years Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day In the event of failure carrier will not be responsible for any other damages or financial compensation other than a refund of freight charges. Force Majeure –Carrier will not honor guarantee in cases of acts if god, the authority of law, strikes, lockouts, casualties, adverse weather conditions, governmental action or regulation, acts of terror, or other beyond carriers control.
Accessorial freight charges are additional fees that cover additional services or instances that are not considered covered in a standard pick-up and delivery operation designated at the time a shipment is tendered. The additional charges cover a wide variety of services outside of the freight charge and fuel surcharge that are in connection with the transportation of goods
For Trucking only shipments Exfreight acts as a broker and not the carrier. Any claim made on trucking only shipments will be between the claimant and the carrier directly. Exfreight will receive and help facilitate the claim between our client and the carrier.
The Liability of Carriers under contract with Exfreight and the handling of shipments through Exfreight is limited according to the governing agreements in effect between the carrier and the contracting party/the shipper. The limits of liability depend on the carrier chosen and freight class used. It ranges in value from $2.00-$25.00 per lb with a maximum of $100,000 and is available on request. Articles other-than-new will be subject to a maximum liability of 10 cents per pound. Articles which are subject to released value provisions in the NMFC, and where no released value is provided on the Bill of Lading, or where the freight charges are not affected by the released values, the liability will not exceed the lowest value provided for such article. Any Declared Value in excess of the maximums allowed herein is null and void, and the acceptance of any shipment with a Declared Value in excess of the allowed maximums does not constitute a waiver of these maximums. Subject to the limitations of liability contained in the Shipping Agreement Terms and conditions and the Bill of Lading, the selected Carrier will only be liable for loss, damage or non-delivery caused by their own negligence.
FULL TRUCKLOAD (FTL)
Full Truckload (FTL) is a suitable option for transporting freight shipments weighing between 10,000 pounds and 44,000 pounds or are more than 15 feet long. Businesses with highly valuable or heavy haul items that are shipped in bulk generally require FTL trucking services.

Cubic capacity is specifically a North American LTL trucking term. It imposes minimum cubic capacity rules to effectively counter very light, fluffy shipments that take up more than their fair share of a trailer. Most LTL carriers in the cubic capacity rules do not kick in unless the total shipment is over 750 cubic feet and has a density of less than 6 lbs per cubic feet. Some carriers are even as low as 350 cubic feet. When your shipment hits the cubic capacity rule the carriers will levy hefty additional cubic capacity fees to your freight invoice. ExFreight’s Exfresso rating system automatically calculates if your is at any carrier’s cubic capacity, and will disqualify carriers if your freight is over the limit saving you additional fees. You can, rest assured that a rate in the ExFresso platform is correct and valid.
A loading meter is also known as LDM is a standard unit of measurement for transport by truck in Europe. A loading meter is equal to one meter of loading space of the truck’s length. The calculation to determine the number of loading meters is: length in meters x width in meters / 2.4 = number loading meters per piece. Add up each piece’s total loading meters and you have the total loading meter value for the entire shipment. Similar to the NMFC freight class system in the USA, European LTL truck carriers use the loading meter calculation to determine an adequate amount of dimensional weight for each shipment. A majority of the carriers use a minimum billing weight of 1850 kgs per loading meter. Therefore if your shipment is less than 1850 kgs per loading meter you will be billed at 1850 kgs per loading meter.
In addition to the loading meter weight rule, European trucking carriers also utilize a density weight rule which assigns a minimum weight per cubic meter of each shipment. A typical density weight rule is 333 kgs per cubic meter.
It can all be very confusing but in simple terms, each carrier will bill you based on the greater of the following three calculated weights. The actual weight of your shipment, the loading meter weight of your shipment, and the cubic meter density weight.

A reconsignment is the term used when a shipment that is already in transit requires the delivery address to change. There is an additional fee when this is required. The fees are typically calculated based on rating the shipment from the pick-up address to the point or location at which the shipment is able to be stopped Plus the rate from the point or location the shipment was stopped to the new delivery address. Depending on where the shipment is these fees can be high. In addition to the freight rates covering the added distances, there are also administrative fees to relabel the shipment and in cases where the shipment is an international shipment and it needs to be sent to another country, there could be custom entry fees to report the re-export of the shipment.
